...EQUINE
The FodderTech fodder production system is particularly relevant for precious animals with special dietary needs, such as horses, because of performance stress and their known sensitivity to stabling.

This is particularly apt in the Middle East and countries with an arid climate where green forage material is lacking.

Because controlled environment fodder from FodderTech can be grown day in day out, year in year out, the fodder enables Owners, Breeders, Managers, Agistment Managers and Veterinary practices world-wide to give more attention to what animals in their care are being fed

The fodder produced from high quality barley seed by the FodderTech System, provides

  • Superior feed supplement . Horses love it!
  • Living green fodder
  • Organic, chemical free
  • High moisture content
  • Green shoots contain essential nutrients and moisture
  • Roots provide essential fibre
  • No waste

It appears that living fodder enhances good health and that

  • Thriving animals faster to good health, better for health and well being in mind and body
  • Improves performance
  • Increases contentedness
  • Improves coat
  • Decrease in ulcer conditions
  • Signs that there is an increase in fertility rates

PROTEIN
Domestication of animals is not without it's problems. Horses kept for competitive reasons are often stabled and the ensuing changes to feeding schedules apropos natural grazing are thought to increase sensitivity to ulcers.

One of the major factors contributing to stomach ulcers in horses is the lack of high protein 'green' feed. Lack of constant natural grazing, prolonged exposure to acid creating diets, and stress are thought to be responsible for an increasing incidence of ulcers. Vets have reported that high grain and feed pellets are associated with more ulcers, with grain diets favouring bacterial growth and fermentation in the stomach and causing lactic acid and gas, and the increased possibility of distension and stomach rupture.

Protein is 80% of the horses structure on a fat and moisture free basis. Amino acids, the building blocks of protein, are the major components of muscle, skin, hormones and enzymes - in other words, protein is the "material of life".

Apart from growing youngstock, and older horses, protein is not needed in great quantities but it is important to have a spread of good quality digestible vegetable protein sources in the diet.
